Furthermore, economic policies on unemployment are specific steps taken by the government to reduce the rate of unemployment. Ideally, the only solution to higher rates of unemployment is to create more job opportunities. An economy which experiences 2-3% growth can comfortably create more than 150,000 jobs. However, when it fails to do so, it means the economic growth is below 2%. â€Å"A very low economic growth calls for drastic monetary policies, for instance, making an elaborate policy to borrow from the Federal Reserves† (Bittle Jean, 2012). â€Å"Monetary policy consists of the deliberate actions taken by the Federal Reserve authorities to adjust the nation’s money supply and interest rates to promote full employment, price stability, and economic growth† (Contemporary Labor Economics, 2013). Monetary policies from the Federal reserves have been effective since they give the United States’ families an opportunity to borrow at cheaper rates. Even though monetary policies have been instrumental in reducing the rates of unemployment in the United States, these policies have been supported and opposed on equal measures.
